MY STORY
Kajua Lor, PharmD, BCACP [she, her, hers] is an Associate Professor and Founding Chair at the MCW School of Pharmacy, a 3-year accelerated program in Milwaukee, WI. Dr. Lor is an educator, community engaged scholar and integrative clinical pharmacist. She earned her Doctorate of Pharmacy from the University of Wisconsin – Madison in 2013, after which she completed an ambulatory care residency at the University of Minnesota. Dr. Lor was the first Hmong pharmacist to obtain a pharmacy academia position in the nation.
Dr. Lor spent over 6 years implementing clinical pharmacy services at OLE Health a safety net clinic in Napa, CA which serves migrant workers in the Napa Valley. She is a native Hmong speaker with proficiency in Spanish. She is currently a clinical pharmacist 1 day per week at a federally qualified health care center serving Spanish-speaking communities in Milwaukee, WI.
The Hmong Wisconsin Chamber of Commerce noted her contributions with the Hmong community and selected her as the Professional of the Year Award in 2018. She has several peer-reviewed publications and is co-author of ‘Getting in: a practical guide to pharmacy admission’.
Dr. Lor’s is a community engaged researcher and her research interests include medication adherence, health literacy, chronic care management and herbal medicines. Dr. Lor was selected as a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Clinical Scholar and is collaborating with leaders across various sectors, disciplines, and lived experiences to create healthier, more equitable communities. She was awarded the 2021 President's Community Engagement Award. The Milwaukee Business Journal highlighted her as 40 under 40 Professionals in Milwaukee.

She is developing a culture of health with Hmong and LatinX communities. Her goal is to reduce health disparities by providing cross-cultural communication to improve medication adherence and chronic care management.

She provides medication reviews, medication access, culturally-tailored health education on use of medications, provides evidence-based recommendations and collaborates with the healthcare team to ensure patients have the safest and most effective medications.
